| ok...so I went to go see the Avett Bros. in Athens, OH. My friend called the bar a week earlier to make sure minors can go in and watch and where we can get tickets. The dude told him that if we showed up before 9pm...we would definitely get tickets. My friend, his wife, and me drove down real early...we arrived in Athens at about 6:45pm, but we couldn't find a parking spot. So, my friend's wife (Tonya) and I got out of the car to get to the bar to get some seats for dinner. We got there, and the hostess told us that it'd be a 2 hour wait for dinner. I then asked her where I can get the tickets for the concert at. She told me that they we sold out!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing they guranteed us tickets, AND WE WERE THERE 2 HOURS BEFORE 9pm!! So, tonya and I sit down and wait for my friend (Lamar). I'm pretty much thinking "we came this far to only go back". Lamar walks in, and I tell him the news. This initiated PLAN B. Lamar goes to the bar and asks to see the manager. She told him to go to the bar across the street and he would find the manager there (he owned both bars). Lamar came up with this huge sob story of how we drove 4 hours from Cleveland just to see this band! Meanwhile, Tonya and I met this other older couple that was in the same situation as us (this is key later in the story). Lamar comes back...it's lookin' even more grim. It also didn't seem like we were getting into the restaurant for food. So, Tonya and I walk over to Wendy's to get some cheap grub. PLAN C is now in action: it goes like this...since we're already in the bar...they won't kick us out. So, Lamar and tonya get some alcoholic beverages to make it look like they're there to stay. Around 9:30, Lamar gets up to the bar and asks if he could see the manager. The bartender told him that we would probably get some tickets if we waited until 10:15ish (when reserved tickets open up). 10:00pm comes around. Lamar gets up to get another drink, and the ticket dude comes up the our table and asks us for our tickets. I told him our story...and he just said..."I'll be back again". 10:15pm now, the ticket guy comes back. This time Lamar told him our story, and how I flew in all the way from Idaho just to see the Avett Brothers. Didn't work. The guy told us to finish our drinks and get out. PLAN D is now in action...it went like this: Lamar was set on seeing these guys...and he was talking about how we should mingle in the crowd around the stage and avoid getting our wrist checked by the people giving out wristbands. Tonya took off work for this, and she seemed like she was gunna sneak into the concert as well. I sat there...I couldn't sneak in...I'm a good kid...I just couldn't!!! Lamar and Tonya got up started to mingle. From there...it was every man for him/herself. The ticket guy came up to me and told me to leave otherwise he was going to call the police. The last thing I needed was to spend a night in the Athens jail. So, I leave the bar. Now, I'm in a dilemma...my ride and my friends are in the bar and I'm not. At this time...I pretty much started wimpering...I had no idea what to do...and Lamar and Tonya didn't even know I was gone. So, I found that couple that I met in the bar, and we just started talkin'. I told them how I went to school in Idaho and how I found out about the Avett Brothers frim being a DJ and how my friends were in the bar already. Meanwhile, Lamar and Tonya are searching the whole bar for me...having no idea where I was. Just then the husband goes..."hey there's the Avett Brothers's van". I'm like well that helps my cause alot. The van pulls up to the front of the bar, and 2 of the band members walk right into the bar. The 3rd one get out of the van, and the husband goes up to him and starts talking to him. Then the bass player and the husband come up to me, and the wife told me to tell him my story and what happened to me. The bassist was like don't worry I'll get you in. He then escorts me into the bar, and puts the 3 of us on the BAND'S GUEST LIST!!! that's right...I am a guest of the band!!! The couple told me how they were friend's with the bassists mother. So, I got to see THEE most amazing concert of my life, and afterwards I got to talk to the lead singer. The bass player came up to us and introduced me as to him...like formally...and then preceeded to tell him about how I found out about them and how I got to school in Idaho. They then both agreed that they need to do a concert in Idaho, and asked me where the best place to have one was. Of course I said...U OF I!!! So, I went from pretty much crying outside the bar...to becoming a guest of the band and meeting the band!!! It could have been a lot of luck...or the band was testing how much I wanted to see them, but with the circumstances that happend to me. YEAH!
